GameDev update
mostly posting pictures
Instead of jumping headfirst into the game engine, I have been creating assets to use in the game.
So for example, my character Ri that I will be using as a filler image until I get all the portraits and sprites done.
There’s a dragon named Kenji.
Some various characters that I have to design fully, but this is Gary.
And Alicia. She was the first one to get a sprite and then I got feedback on said sprite. But then I decided to fully revamp the sprite size/design, so this will be redone later.
I have a post-it note on my computer with the native resolution I will be trying for my game, but portraits I decided to try 128 x 128 pixels to start and may have to shrink them down to 64 x 64 later if I don’t like how they sit on the screen. I hope that doesn’t happen though. I’ve already drawn quite a few of the portraits. Sprites, I will be copying stardew valley and making them 16 x 32 pixels. I just need to learn to use as much of the space I have to make the sprite instead of making them a step up from a stick figure. I grabbed a reference sheet to refer to later as I redesign the sprites. Soon I should start working on tile sets and maps so that I can try to work out some of the most basic stuff in the game engine.
That is probably enough of an update for now. More of my portraits can be found on my discord server and on my nsanelilmunky accounts on Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky. See you there!
